The Harvest Home / Scotsman over the Border/ The Tenpenny Bit

from Hiding Daylight in Dark Corners by James Carty

about

Down through the years if a package ever arrived in the post from David Lennon of North Leitrim it was always a cause for excitement. It invariably meant a treasure trove of early recordings and one such example of this music is this version of The Harvest Home, played by Michael Coleman. The two jigs that follow are very often played together in the Sligo repertoire having been recorded by Paddy Killoran, and Fred Finn and Peter Horan. They are still played together to this day by musicians and are favourites of Patsy Hanly and Brian Rooney amongst others.
